what I find most interesting in the topic is how the saturation of media and the world viewed through screens creates an opposing reality that becomes so vivid like a parallel world. The idea of "virtualisation of the real" creates this simulation of interacting within society via conception of recordings of it. experiencing the world second hand if it were. What this writing brings up in relation to artists and art and society is that much of the world reflects the media and digital world rather than the reverse. as all art is a response to society and is in constant conversation with reality and the constructed reality of art. Because the digital landscape exists as its own reality parallel to the physical, contemporary artists not only make art in response but also utilize the digital landscape not as a medium but rather the reality the art exists in.

Much of the writings mirror a lot of media and art made during the turn of the millenia and the rise of the internet. serial experiments lain is an animated tv series which deals with this very concept of the link between reality and hyper reality of the internet.

a distinction between ontological reality being replaced by simulated reality. whist representation and simulation mimic reality new reality is its own landscape which exists parallel

representation pre modern high art narrative of reality is depicted in art objective reality

simulation/constructed reality modern individual representation art is simulating reality media constructs reality without knowing what's outside the world without media we dont know what ur us

post modern no objective reality
